Tom Cruise and Doug Liman re-team for thriller Mena

Edge of Tomorrow was one of last year’s best surprises: a blockbuster that was genuinely intelligent, and also boasted a sort of return-to-form for its star Tom Cruise. And now he and Edge of Tomorrow‘s director, Doug Liman, are teaming up once more for Mena, an ’80s-set thriller that takes place in the world of drug criminals. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mena is about Barry Seal, a pilot who turns into a drug smuggler, who later was hired by the CIA and the DEA to help with taking down drug rings. This will be Liman’s return to Universal, since he directed The Bourne Identity back in 2002 – a very successful franchise. Could another collaboration with Liman for Mena mean an even more enjoyable performance from Cruise?
