Tom Hanks made unthinkable bet on the most unlikely sporting success in history
Oscar winning actor Tom Hanks has claimed to have made an incredible bet on arguably the biggest shock in sporting history. Hanks has claimed to have put his money on Premier League’s Leicester City FC to win the title, which they are now extremely close to doing.
The Green Mile actor told a reporter at the premiere for his latest film, Hologram for the King, that he had put a £100 bet on Leicester City at the start of the season. Check out his claim in the video below:
“At the start of the season I put £100 on Leicester, so I think I’ll do OK.” he says.
However, there’s a strong chance that Hanks was in fact joking as he went onto say: “Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t.” or maybe he just wants a part in the Jamie Vardy movie?
With odds of 5000/1 for Leicester to win the league at the start of the season and with them now just 1 win away from lifting the trophy, Hanks could be set to make a fortune, not that he needs it!
And to put it into context for NFL fans, Leicester City winning the Premier League, is like the equivalent of Detroit Lions winning Superbowl, it just doesn’t seem possible! But as Hanks says in Forrest Gump: “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get”
