Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum set for Triple Frontier?

Triple Frontier is one of those Hollywood scripts that despite being something of a magnet for some serious talent has found it hard to make it to the screen. Now under the watchful eye of J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year, Margin Call) however, it may finally be about to see the light of day thanks to some potentially big casting news.

Deadline is reporting that Chandor is eyeing up Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum to star in the film which is written by Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker). The duo join a long list of A-list stars linked with the film over the years including Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks and Will Smith but it seems that this time the casting could stick if confirmed. Indeed those names could feasibly re-join the project if it goes ahead this time but that’s speculation at the moment.

Described as an “ensemble picture”, Triple Frontier is “set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge – making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime.” With Boal writing the script, it was at one point going to be made by Kathryn Bigelow after the two had collaborated on The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, but she has since left the project.

Hardy can be seen in his new show Taboo, which starts on BBC One this weekend; Tatum will next be seen in Matthew Vaughn’s anticipated sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle, due for release in September, alongside Taron Edgerton, Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Mark Strong and Jeff Bridges.
