Tom Hardy to star in Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin reboot?

Tom Hardy is reportedly being lined up for Guy Ritchie’s live-action Aladdin remake.

According to The Sun, Ritchie wants the Mad Max: Fury Road star to play bad guy Jafar, the iconic Disney villain, who is best friends with a talking parrot and has the ability to turn into a giant snake.

If Hardy gets the part, we may see him perform this memorable number:

The Disney remake is yet to cast anyone for the film, however according to Deadline, Will Smith is in talks with the studio to play the genie, who was memorably voiced by the great Robin Williams in the 1992 animated original.

The main roles of Aladdin and Jasmine are still yet to be cast but Ritchie has promised not to whitewash the remake, although if he casts Hardy, he hasn’t made a very good start on that. Aladdin is awaiting a release date.
