Toy Story 4 gets a second director

Although the news of a Toy Story 4 has been largely met with doubt, it keeps giving us less and less reason to think it’ll end up being anything but great. Firstly, there was the President of Pixar’s opinion of the film’s premise (as yet undisclosed) describing it as a ‘romantic comedy’, and now, we’ve learned that Josh Cooley has boarded the project to direct alongside John Lasseter.

But just who is this Cooley? He’s probably known best within the Pixar community as Head of Story on the studio’s upcoming movie, Inside Out – so he’s a relatively fresh face. The higher-ups at Pixar – including John Lasseter himself – probably thought him such a great creative force, that they recruited him for Toy Story 4 early on as co-director (at least, that’s how we wish it happened). There are no plot details as of yet, but expect both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen to reprise their voice roles (it wouldn’t be Toy Story without Woody and Buzz now, would it?). Toy Story 4 is released July 14, 2017.
