The first reactions are in from Transformers: The Last Knight and it’s not looking good for the fifth film of the franchise.
Critics at CinemaCon were shown 15 minutes of new footage from the latest Transformers sequel. Although it wouldn’t be fair to judge a movie on a small amount of footage, the generally negative responses don’t bode well for the film, as it was labelled on Twitter as “messy” with its “tone all over the place”:
We just saw about 15 minutes of random scenes from Transformers 5. It was mostly human stuff and pretty brutal. A real lack of energy.

As soon as someone started talking about the theme of "empowerment" in TRANSFORMERS 5, I bailed. Think I know what I'm in for by now…

Saw about 10-15 mins of Transformers: The Last Knight. I wish I could make heads or tails of what the fuck I just watched…

I'm not saying it to be a dick or talk down on pop cinema, but I'm truly at a loss how to describe any of the Transformers footage I saw.

As usual the tone was all over the place, from dead serious to goofy comedy in the same scene. Aspect ratios were switching with every shot.

#Transformers panel touted strong female characters in the movie. Followed up by footage including a "stripper dress" joke about one of them

The 15-20 mins of Transformers: Last Knight footage shown at CinemaCon was what you'd expect from the fifth installment in this franchise ?

Saw a long sizzle reel for Transformers: The Last Knight. Some of it looked cool. Love the mythology stuff. Comedy = horrible. Feels messy.

Transformers 5 has Michael Bay at the helm once again with Mark Wahlberg starring. The story follows humans and Transformers at war, with Optimus Prime now gone. The key to saving the future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth.
The Last Knight arrives in theaters on 23rd June. See its trailer below:
