Two new cast members revealed for Avengers: Age of Ultron
WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD FOR AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.
Following rumours that Captain Marvel may make her appearance earlier than expected in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there has been another development in regards to Avengers: Age of Ultron – or rather, two of them. In a press release issued by Disney which details the cast members who will be on the red carpet for the premiere of the new film, there are two names which haven’t been mentioned anywhere before: Julie Delpy and Linda Cardellini.
While Disney have responded that the two are a part of the film, it’s currently a mystery as to what roles they’ll be playing. But it’s definitely tantalising new information, especially concerning the scale of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Using our fingers (and having to include our toes as well), we’ve counted 17 main cast members. That includes Delpy and Cardellini, but not even guest stars such as Loki and Heimdall. But just who will they be playing?
We’ll be completely honest: we’ve no idea about who Julie Delpy will be playing. Possibly a dark agent of evil, in league with Baron von Strucker? Or will she be on the side of the good guys, maybe helping out Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury? (We think she’d look great with an eye-patch.) But what about Cardellini? [MORE POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOLLOW] Could she be the one who has, reportedly, been cast in secret as Captain Marvel? We believe she’d be a great fit: currently starring in Netflix’s Bloodline, she possesses a range worthy of her own solo movie. A real positive to the inclusion of these actors is the fact that they’re both in their late 30s / 40s – an age range for females not regularly seen in Marvel’s output so far. As Age of Ultron looms ever nearer, we’ll find out for sure soon enough who they’ll be playing.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is released April 23 in the UK, and May 1 in the US.
