Victoria Wood dies aged 62
Extremely sad news as one of the greatest comedians of our time, Victoria Wood, has died at the age of 62.
Her publicist Neil Reading revealed the sad news:
“Victoria Wood has sadly passed away, after a short but brave battle with cancer.
“The multi Bafta award-winning writer, director, actor and comedian died peacefully at her north London home with family this morning. She was 62. The family ask for privacy at this very sad time.”
She found fame in the 1980s with her TV series Victoria Wood and later shone in 1998’s Dinnerladies. She also featured in many TV films such as The Borrowers and Housewife, 49, as well as a couple of appearances in big screen productions The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
The multi-talented actress, director, singer and writer was awarded a CBE in 2008 for her incredible array of work over the years. She died in London surrounded by family and will be sorely missed as arguably England’s greatest ever female comedian.
