Why George Lucas Won’t Return to Star Wars

George Lucas didn’t just sell Disney the rights to Star Wars for a few billion dollars. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Lucas revealed that he simply has no desire to make another Star Wars picture.

“You go to make a movie and all you do is get criticized,” said Lucas. “And it’s not much fun. You can’t experiment.” Lucas also added that he hopes “The Force doesn’t get muddled into a bunch of gobbledygook” now that Disney is planning an expanded universe. Of course Lucas already kind of messed up the Force with the whole Midi-chlorian thing.

When asked which Star Wars character he liked to be the most, Lucas jokingly replied, “Jar Jar Binks.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18th, one month from today! Until then, check out this video for a 30 second series recap.
