Several Avengers will be appearing in Captain America: Civil War, including Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man. Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp will be sitting this one out, though.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel wants to hold off on showing the heroine in action until Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Peyton Reed, the director of the Ant-Man sequel, explained that “It just didn’t make sense for Wasp because there’s so many characters in this movie, and you really want to see her become a hero and really spend time with her.”

“She’s a complicated character and a rich character. We’re really, really having fun writing that.”

Since Black Panther and Spider-Man are making their MCU debut in Civil War, it’s understandable that the film would be a little too overstuffed for the Wasp. We can’t wait to see more of her, however!

Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
