Will Ferrell in driving seat for Uber comedy film

Taxi mobile service Uber is the subject for two different films in the pipeline by major studios.

Universal and 20th Century Fox have both purchased comedies based on the taxi app with Universal’s set to star Will Ferrell.

THR reports that the Will Ferrell production will have him play an Uber driver who picks up an escaped convict.

Ferrell will also produce the currently untitled film alongside Anchorman director Adam McKay.

Fox’s film has got a title however, and will go by the name of Stuber. The story will follow an Uber driver who picks up a “grizzled cop working the most dangerous case of his career”.

Release dates are yet to be announced.
