Will Forte Starring in National Lampoon Biopic

Will Forte is set to play Doug Kenney, a co-founder of National Lampoon, in a biopic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the name of the film is A Futile and Stupid Gesture. Forte is working with David Wain, one of the minds behind Wet Hot American Summer, and may bring the project to Netflix. Michael Colton and John Aboud’s screenplay is based on Josh Karp’s 2006 book about Kenney’s rise to success. Although Kenney brought millions of people laughter with National Lampoon, his life sadly ended in tragedy upon committing suicide at age 33.

As the star and creator of Fox’s The Last Man on Earth, Forte has proven that he can balance great humor with great drama. This just might make him the perfect talent to tell Kenney’s story.
