Winnie the Pooh latest Disney live-action update

Joining the already announced remakes/reboots we have reported on in recent weeks, Winnie the Pooh has just been given the go-ahead by Disney to return in live-action form.

The story will focus on a grown up Christopher Robin returning to his childhood home in Hundred Acre Wood to find Winnie the Pooh. Deadline have also announced that indie filmmaker Alex Ross Perry has been hired to bring AA Milne’s creation to the big screen.

The most recent version of Pooh was the 2011 animated version which featured music by Zooey Deschanel. It was also the last hand-drawn release by Disney.

Perry recently scored success at Sundance with his film Listen Up Philip. The film will be produced by Brigham Taylor.

Disney currently have several live-action adaptations in the works. Mulan was given the go ahead earlier this week and other recent announcements have confirmed Beauty and the Beast as well as Dumbo.

The next of these updated films by the studio will be Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book, starring Scarlett Johansson and Idris Elba.
