Wolverine 3 to be Patrick Stewart’s last X-Men film

Sir Patrick Stewart has revealed that the upcoming Wolverine 3 may be his last X-Men film.

Stewart, has played Professor X for 17 years now but that looks to be coming to an end after he told ITV that this will ‘probably’ be his last film:

‘I would imagine this is probably the end of this franchise for me. But the thing about science fiction and fantasy is that you can never, ever say it’s the end, it’s over,’

‘Jean Grey vaporised me [in X-Men: The Last Stand]. From which you would think there would be no return. But watch out in March. I’m going to be back.’

‘I would imagine this is probably the end of this franchise for me.’

The film is also likely to be Hugh Jackman’s last outing as Wolverine. The movie is expected to take inspiration from the 2008 Marvel comic Old Man Logan, although according to Gamezone, “Sources close to the project have revealed that the title of the film will be Weapon X.” which would suggest it will follow the Wolverine origin story that has already been covered by previous films.

Whichever title or story the film follows, we can expect to see Sir Patrick Stewart reprise his role as Professor X for the very last time when Wolverine 3 hits screens in March 2017.
