X-Men director pitches female Wolverine for X-Force film

X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer has revealed that Fox is moving forward with its long-awaited X-Force movie, and he’s also shared his ideas for the direction Wolverine could take.

Singer told Fandango that he’s spoken with the studio about Wolverine’s future after Hugh Jackman retires and he even proposed the idea of Logan’s female clone X-23 featuring in the X-Force film:

“I actually initially pitched the X-Force and the female,” he said.

Singer then revealed that X-Force “is in the earliest script stage” at the hands of producer Simon Kinberg, adding:

“So that’s kind of where that stands, and we’ll see how it evolves.”

He also went onto say that he “absolutely” sees a future for the X-Men, X-Force, Deadpool and New Mutants all coming together into one world, much like a darker Avengers film, saying:

“If the tone can still maintain itself, I’m all for it. What I’m not for is throwing a bunch of characters together and hoping it works.”

Singer’s latest project, X-Men:Apocalypse, hits theaters on May 27.
