X-Men director to helm new adaptation of sci-fi classic

Last year, Bryan Singer teased fans on social media about what he’d be directing as his next film. And now Singer has officially confirmed that he’s on board to helm 20th Century Fox’s adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

According to Deadline, production is set to begin this autumn, as the X-Men director begins the casting process.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is based on Jules Verne’s 1870 sci-fi novel. While Singer didn’t want to give away too much about the film, he did confirm it “contains not only the original characters of Captain Nemo, Ned Land and Professor Aronnax, but also some new and original characters and Sci Fi plot twists culminating in a timeless adventure for all ages.”
