Young Han Solo to be in ‘at least three’ Star Wars films
Disney has big plans for young Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich, as the 26-year-old actor will reportedly feature in ‘at least three’ Star Wars films.
According to sources at The New York Daily News, the studio has “quietly signed” Ehrenreich for “at least three movies”.
It’s unconfirmed as to whether this means a trilogy of young Han Solo films. Or whether Ehrenreich will play a more supporting role in the other 2 films outside of his solo outing.
Sources also say that the studio sees a lot of potential with his character, as his adventures don’t have to be tied to the central Empire storyline, as prequel films can introduce a variety of new characters and “explore new galaxies and crazy creatures.”
When Ehrenreich landed the role recently, he discussed the audition process, which took six months. “I’ve never screen tested with a Wookiee,” he said. “It was amazing.”
Based on his strong performances in Hail Caesar!, Blue Jasmine, and Stoker, Ehrenreich seems like he’s more than up to the task of replacing Harrison Ford in the role.
Set to begin filming in January next year, the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film hits theaters on May 25, 2018.
