Zac Efron joins Dwayne Johnson for Baywatch Movie

It was announced last year that Paramount would be adapting the 1990’s cult TV series Baywatch into a movie with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson likely to star and now according to The Hollywood Reporter, Zac Efron will join him.

Seth Gordon is set to direct the movie described as a comedic take on the sun-drenched, melodramatic series.

And now we have some plot details: Johnson will be the by-the-book veteran lifeguard who must team up with a rule-breaking younger man (Efron) to save their beach from an environmental disaster that might result if a scheming oil tycoon gets his way.

A strange pairing The Rock and Efron may seem, they’ve shown their worth with some impressive comedic roles in recent films and could well be a strong duo for the Baywatch movie and not just in the muscular sense.
